HM Treasury LIBOR Grants

Support funded by the Chancellor using LIBOR funds.

In 2012, HM Treasury announced that the proceeds from LIBOR fines would be used to support Armed Forces and Emergency Services charities and other related good causes that represent those that demonstrate the very best of values. We are grateful to the Chancellor of The Exchequer for including Walking With The Wounded in the final round of  LIBOR Grant Commitments.

In November 2017, the Chancellor awarded Walking With The Wounded a grant to support Employment Advisors embedded in veterans' temporary accommodation and NHS mental health teams across the UK. Past support has included WWTW's criminal justice programme, Project Nova, and WWTW's mental health programme, Head Start, being funded by the Chancellor using LIBOR funds.

The support we have received has enabled the expansion of our vital services and will continue to support hundreds of wounded and 'at risk' veterans regain their independence through mental health support, access to sustainable employment and improved employability.  A fitting testament to the values of the LIBOR Grant policy.

In addition Walking With the Wounded has been able to set up new regional services with the support of from Armed Forces Covenant Fund small grant scheme. Support includes:

  • North West England - funding for a Welfare Officer to work with veterans in a new Mosscare Housing property in Manchester, in partnership with Nacro, offering six veterans with a home and support with social rehabilitation services and training opportunities.
  • East England – funding towards piloting family support services and domestic violence perpetrator programme by WWTW Project Nova team in the East of England.
  • West Midlands – funding to help introduce a WWTW  Individual Placement Support (IPS) employment adviser to work with veterans supported of NHS Birmingham and Solihull mental health team.
