Sale Sharks Community Trust Support WWTW & OP-REGEN

Walk With The Wounded (‘WWTW’) depends on the generosity of the corporate and local community.

Recently OP-REGEN, WWTW’s volunteering programme has been supporting Manchester City Council.

Furloughed members of staff from Sharks Community Trust and Sale Sharks player, Curtis Langdon have also supported the walk by integrating within the team of veteran volunteers and providing an additional helping hand.

Sharks Community Trust are a huge supporter of the Armed Forces Community within the North West. They are looking to engage with WWTW more frequently over the coming months via their Armed Forces support project- Sharks Forces, to help offer enrichment, training and potential volunteering opportunities when lockdown restrictions start to ease.

Curtis Landon (Sale Sharks Player & Armed Forces Ambassador) says, “I volunteered to help because the Armed Forces is a cause that’s close to mine and my family’s hearts. My father served in the Royal Marines and this motivated me to provide a hand where I can”. He continues, “We delivered food parcels to the people in need across the city, dropping them at the doorsteps and whilst maintaining social distancing, it was rewarding to have a brief chat before heading to the next drop. It was nice to be part of something so positive and playing my part to help others during this strange time”.

Scott Briggs, OP-REGEN Project Manager added, “It’s fantastic to see the amount of support that the OP-REGEN volunteering project has received over the lockdown period. So many people, from all walks of life have generously given up their time to help those who need support. We have received volunteer requests from across the country, this is an incredibly exciting chapter for OP-REGEN. Thank you to everyone at Sales Sharks for supporting those who served.”
