Walking Home For Christmas
Your school could take part in Walking Home For Christmas - Walking With The Wounded’s campaign to serve those who served us by organising a walk to raise money this Christmas. You encourage pupils to walk home (supported by parents depending on age), walk to a local landmark or go the distance within your school grounds. Find out more by visiting our Walking Home For Christmas page.
An Evening of Courage
Invite parents, pupils and teachers to a evening with a veteran who has been supported by Walking With The Wounded. Our beneficiaries have shown courage, character and commitment to overcome adversity and will share their inspiring journey in an effort to support others on theirs.
Boiled Egg and Soldiers Breakfast
Turn breakfast into an event! Your school could hold a breakfast event on any day of the year to raise funds for our servicemen and women, or perhaps you could use the event to mark a pertinent date:
5th March 2020 – World Book Day
24th May 2020 – Commonwealth Day
9th June – Head of the British Armed Forces Her Majesty The Queen’s birthday
27th June 2020 – Armed Forces Day
11th November – Armistice Day and Centenary of the end of World War I
Community Running Events
Do you have a school running club or one or two ambitious pupils who could tackle a 10k or half marathon for the cause? Walking With The Wounded has places in half marathons around the country, including the iconic Great North Run. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
Three Legged Challenge
Could you spend a day being supported by one of your friends? The ‘disability’ of being tied together and having to learn to walk in a different way reflects the injuries that some of the people Walking With The Wounded helps face and the teamwork and co-operation required to succeed in this challenge mirrors that of our injured service men and women in their own personal endeavours to rebuild their lives. Your school could organise a single race or extend the challenge to an entire break time, morning or day! To find out more, click here to download our Three Legged Challenge Information Pack.
Make up an original route in your local area, go coast to coast, explore Britain or challenge yourselves to further afield during a half term or the summer break. Be inspired by looking at events we’ve run in the past and consider rolling relays to cover distances in shorter timeframes, accommodate a range of abilities and promote teamwork among your pupils, while increasing the number of fundraisers taking part. Email email@example.com to find out more.
Themed School Fundraising Days
There are several ways to fundraise on the school premises starting with a very simple 'Hero' dress-down day with a £1 donation from each pupil. You could also organise, with the help of the PTA or older students, a school disco, quiz night, movie night, battle of the bands or even a principal's challenge.
We can support you with charity materials for any event you choose to take on. Contact Viveca Johnstone on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
